By the River Mtkvari 1
This photo is part of a set of photos of the fishermen I chanced upon one early morning along the banks of Mtkvari River near the Old Tbilisi section of the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. At first glance I thought that the two guys in the photo worked together but, upon closer look, I realized that the angler was by himself and the other was a just passerby who decided to stop and ponder on something along the riverbank.

Really lovely shot. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for visiting, Ken.
I love this.
Thanks, Cassie.
This is just flat-out beautiful. I want to hang it on my wall beautiful. I wish I had taken it beautiful! Not only do you have the skill, but you have a great eye. I want to spend a week with you. I want you to be my teacher.
Thanks for your generous remarks, Mona. And thanks for the follow-up e-mail about your comments. Best regards.
Looks like something out of The Fellowship of the Ring. Great composition and treatment.
Hmm.. didn’t see it that way until you said it. Thanks, disperser.
Absolutely beautiful… I’d be pondering along that riverbank myself.!
Yeah, I would say it was a great morning to meditate along the riverbank, I would say. Thanks, Barbara.
I love the buildings/houses on the literal edges of the cliff…and such a high cliff, too, making a perfect frame for the river. Very nice shot, Jessie.
Yep, one commenter in my previous post called those buildings crazy. LOL! Thanks for the kind words, Scott.
I often see people fishing in the Mtkvari but I haven’t seen them catch anything! I am sure they do though
Great picture!
That’s what my Georgian friend also told me, Bassa. In fact I waited for a while for the angler to pull out something from the water but he was not lucky that day I guess. Thanks.
beautiful warm tones in this one!
Thanks, John.
An ethereal beauty here of calmness and quiet.
Thanks, Angeline.
Thats’ quite a spectacular canyon wall on the other side of the river!
Yes, a wonderful photo subject. Thanks.
very nice photo
Love the atmosphere
Beautiful – I like the vignetting, too.
What a beautiful, atmospheric picture.
Lovely. It makes me want to sit there too and do some contemplating.
Thank you very much, ShimonZ, Russell, Cindy, and greenbenchramblings.
This is your 2nd photo with a fisherman that I’ve seen of late. I wonder what types of fish they are fishing for…
Hi T Hollis. Unfortunately, I did not have an interpreter when I took these photos and none of the fishermen spoke English so I was not able to talk to them. Would have wanted to know that as well. Thanks for visiting.
What a beautiful place.
Thanks, Pattie.
Such a lovely shot! It looks like a watercolor painting….so serene and calm. I love the houses high atop the cliff, and the colors of the rocky cliff are just beautiful….especially when reflected in the river. The silhouetted men make a great accent against the softer, paler background. What wonderful timing you have to capture all this so perfectly!
Hello, Judy. Thanks for visiting and leaving kind comments on several posts. As I related in my previous post, it took a week of itching to photograph this view along the river before I decided to do it alone one early morning. I was lucky the sun and the weather cooperated. Thanks again.
A peaceful scene, nicely captured.
Gorgeous shot….
Superb Jessie. Wonderful composition and love the colours.
Thanks, JimR, Stuart, and David. Appreciate it.
Really beautiful picture. Bravo!
Fishing and Wishig, good choice for the name!
