Terminal 3: The Long Wait
Tired from a long flight and not finding a vacant seat at the terminal; I sincerely wished I could be as candid, relaxed and uninhibited as this group. Also not finding vacant seats, they took over the mid portion of the terminal’s main hall and then sat, slept or chatted on the shiny floor amidst the rushing crowd, unmindful of amused stares from fellow passengers. They were oblivious of me as well while I snapped a few shots as they were of some girls who chose to have them as background to their photos.

Being tired and hanging out in an airport is no fun, but you made the best of it with a great photo that tells the story.
Thank you, Gina, for confirming that the photo tells the story. It means a lot because that’s exactly what I wanted to achieve.
I like the juxtaposition of the traditional clothing and the modern travelers in the background. Nicely done!
Thanks, Cindy. Had to watch carefully and wait for the right timing to get this. But then I had more than an hour before my next flight….
Fabulous shot!
Thanks a lot!
What a study in cultures! I love the contrast in the expression on the stripe-man’s face and the blue-coat man.
It’s fun watching people’s faces at the airport and trying to read their mood and what they think.
Thanks, animalartist.
Brilliant shot …. a contrast shot!
Thanks, viveka.
Why make life complicated?
Nice shot.
Hi,Ruby. Yeah, why punish ourselves for fear of what people may think? Thanks so much for visiting.
Love it!
Thanks, Madhu.
Here we go… the airport series has begun
It occurs to me that the people wearing the odd clothes would be those in the background since they are the tourists…. Nice photo. I look forward to more in this series!
Thank you so much, Dezra.
My guess is, the guy with the striped shirt is the real Turk. The group behind and in front of him, including me – the photographer, are the strangers in Turkey. What he was saying in his mind was probably something like. “Bloody tourists!”.
Wish I was gutsy enough to just sit anywhere when I get tired. I’m so traditional, I always look for a spot along the wall. Silly me!
Well, you’re not alone, Terri. Even in airports, I prefer the quiet nooks where I can be the spectator, not the show.
Thanks for visiting.
This is one reason why I would never make a good international traveller; I just can’t sleep on hard floors.
The joys of getting older with achy joints. But I can enjoy other people’s photos!
I’m also heading that way, I’m afraid.
Thanks for checking this out.
