The first thing that I’d like to do

I originally planned to post these photos individually as breakers in between my next photo essays but suddenly recalled the song “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce (The music and lyrics of the song here) as I was thinking of a title for the breaker. I didn’t want to break up the beautiful lyrics of the song so I just decided to include all the 3 photos in this post as a humble tribute to the great artist that Jim Croce was.

This song was popular in 1973-1974 during my 1st year of teaching. I played Jim Croce’s album over and over again. Universal truth in his words:
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
Your images are spectacular … and Croce’s song is a perfect accompaniment.

I really like all 3 shots, but the 3rd one intrigues me the most. Leaves you wondering what’s holding them up, or whether you inverted the shot. Either way, I don’t care, just a great series of shots.

No special ‘choreography’ done on the bottles, Mike. I photograph my subjects as they are. The clues are in the live plants/weeds slightly visible in the first and second photos. The bottles were lying on their sides on top of each other so I just had to stand on top of the pile of bottles to get the angle for the 3rd photo.
