Time in a Bottle
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save everyday
‘Til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
-oOo-
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save everyday like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go
Through time with
-oOo-
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go
Through time with
-oOo-
I originally planned to post these photos individually as breakers in between my next photo essays but suddenly recalled the song “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce (The music and lyrics of the song here) as I was thinking of a title for the breaker. I didn’t want to break up the beautiful lyrics of the song so I just decided to include all the 3 photos in this post as a humble tribute to the great artist that Jim Croce was.

This song was popular in 1973-1974 during my 1st year of teaching. I played Jim Croce’s album over and over again. Universal truth in his words:
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
Your images are spectacular … and Croce’s song is a perfect accompaniment.

I believe it’s still popular until now, Mona, because of his often touching lyrics and his melodious guitar. And I agree with you, there’s a universal truth in these words. Thank you for the visit and your kind comments.

I really like all 3 shots, but the 3rd one intrigues me the most. Leaves you wondering what’s holding them up, or whether you inverted the shot. Either way, I don’t care, just a great series of shots.

No special ‘choreography’ done on the bottles, Mike. I photograph my subjects as they are. The clues are in the live plants/weeds slightly visible in the first and second photos. The bottles were lying on their sides on top of each other so I just had to stand on top of the pile of bottles to get the angle for the 3rd photo.
Thank you for your kind comments.

Excellent choice, Jessie…when I saw your post in my email yesterday, I wondered what you might have done…and the words to the song have been in my head ever since. Very nice photos…and the words go along with them somehow. Thank you.

Hello, Scott. That’s what happened to me when I prepared this post. I was just looking for a title when good old Jim popped up in my head and started singing this song so I decided to share the song together with the photos. 🙂 Thanks for visiting, and for your kind comment.
