Children of Papua 4
The rest of the village boys were playing on the field inside the school compound but he just sat on one side quiet and alone. He noticed me focusing my lens on him but still did he just stare. I found him again later limping by a village hut. He has a deformed leg.

Been trying to figure out the expression on the lips as well. Is he biting his lower lip in pain or anguish? I really don’t know.
Thanks for the comment, Naomi.

Yes, it is depressing to see kids not able to fully enjoy their childhood because of some deformity. But photography is not only about happy things.
Thanks for the visit, Roxanne.

What a powerful image. The metaphor of the boy behind the fence … and then your description. Such sad eyes. I wonder what he is thinking.

Well said, Mona. I belatedly realized that the boy actually appears to be caged by the fence — in reality, by his disability. Thanks, Mona.
