Terminal 16: Korean Dolls

June 2014: What’s the single place in any country where tourists and other foreign nationals congregate on a regular  basis?  Of course, it’s the main international airport.  And in what better place can the country promote tourism and expose other nationalities to the native culture and traditions than the airport.  In my opinion, this is one of the many things that South Korea does best.  Aside from the usual local products and souvenirs such as these Korean dolls that dominate the duty free shops at Incheon International Airport, there are stalls such as the one below that are dedicated to showcasing Korean culture, providing foreign nationals with first-hand cultural experiences through music, roles plays, parades and other performances.  A unexpecting traveller can get a big surprise when encountering a traditional parade along the terminal’s massive corridors as the actors really look like the live versions of traditional Korean dolls.
