Andaman Sea: Shy Seashell Searchers

Myanmar

“Andaman Sea: Shy Seashell Searchers” / Bokpyin, Thaninthayi, Myanmar / April 2017:  I jumped and rushed to a good vantage point when I saw them emerge from the mangrove forest carrying buckets half-filled with freshly-gathered seashells.  But, to my surprise, they tried to run away from me and obviously tried hard to avoid eye contact with my camera.  It was only later when I found out that their ethnic culture forbids them from getting in contact with male foreigners. My large camera probably made me look scarier.
