Powerful image! For me I think first of all of barbed wire….a prison fence? Then when I looked again I saw the barbed wire in circles like the crown of thorns that was on the head of Jesus . Wonderful message.
What a startling image: razor wire with a single bird in silhouette! Oh my…
“So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36
He is risen! Happy Easter Saturday!
What a beautiful photo, Jessie…a pairing of such opposites…not only the freedom that the bird implies, juxtaposed against the wire, but also the strength of the bird’s fragility surmounting the object that we often relate to cruelty and inhumanity. So pretty.
Yes, it’s bold and bare (no editing except for the framing and the watermark). I respect your perception if you found it too strong but as you can see from the comments, perceptions can vary a lot. Thanks for being frank, viveka.
A crown of thorns, a circle of barbed wire….the first was for the “King of the Jews” , the second is always associated with prison camps and minefields….both cause (and caused) pain. But the little bird has got around it all and now sits on the top, clear of problems and is ready to fly away.
Would love to hear what you think. Thanks. Cancel reply

The drag of endless mental work in a strange land takes its toll. Fatigue can kill so petty escapades provide hopeful deviations from the brewing madness. An aging DSLR keeps good company to a walk around the neighbourhood, a short drive to a scenic place, or a silent recollection in a quiet nook granting that the host community and the elements of nature would allow one a safe passage to solitude and contemplation. Loneliness quickly turns to joy when something exciting gets captured by the cam’s shutter then set free into the laptop’s screen followed by electric words that rush from the fingers to the keyboard in an effort to describe the moment. Alas, the brain is alive once again!

If only humans could ignore fences as easily as birds.
As for truth . . . so many instances where that is not the case.

I think there are human elements that can not be restrained by any amount of razor wire or iron bars. Thanks for your comment, disperser.

Quite a bold photo .. and bare, little brutal in my eyes – specially with Easter in mind.
