Children of Papua 19
A couple of happy faces for the weekend….
She was waiting to get paid for the rubber cakes she delivered to a trading post near my guesthouse when I asked to take her photo. She agreed and gave me this million-dollar smile.
He was viewing the displays in a store when I asked him for a photo. He was a bit shy but nevertheless struck this winning pose accompanied by a wide, sunny grin.

Great smiles….but the teeth look so good, white and straight. Yet we in the western world spend a fortune at dentists for much less attractive results

Beautiful smiles and perfect teeth! Must be the excellent diet of native foods without the Western diet horrors of high fructose corn syrup and other additives. Dr. Weston A. Price would be proud! Thanks, Shutter Bug!

Thanks, T Hollis and David. How observant of you to notice the teeth. And mind you, it was not like I choose those with the best teeth from the crowd. The decision to photograph them was perfectly random.

The photos intrigue me. You imply that they are snapshots, quickly taken, yet the lighting is good, providing the “just right” highlights.
I’d read your statement under your picture (upper right corner) before, but it means more to me now because, as I’ve spent quite a few days alone in this foreign city recently, I have had similar thoughts and feelings.

Hello, Mona. I very, very rarely use the flash or set-up artificial lighting for my photos. So, yes, these photos were taken using only ambient light. Thanks.
And welcome to the club! I’m glad you can now relate with my melodramatic statement above. 🙂
