Children of Papua 8
Most of the village kids were either following us around the village or just horsing around but she didn’t seem to notice or care about the excitement. She emerged from the grove of trees across the field, approached and silently passed us with a steady stride without acknowledging anyone, then disappeared into a cluster of houses. Hanging on her back through a strap that slung on her head was some piece of tree bark. Whatever that piece of bush material meant, it must be important because her face showed extreme focus and determination to bring it home.

Yes, she looks determined, doesn’t she? It’s kind of sad that she’s out there all by herself and seems to be on such an important mission at her age. Great image, Jessie.

True. I really wondered what’s so important with that thing when she’s supposed to be playing with the rest of the kids. Thanks for your thought, Gina.

She needs to take home that which she has found. Maybe to start a fire for cooking?

Maybe. My guess is, it’s going to be part of her house’s wall, though I’m not sure. Thanks, scrapydo.
